Digital DesignerSlovakia10+ years

Anyone can builda site now.

Making it good is the part that got harder. I’m Richard, a designer in Slovakia who also builds and ships the thing. Ten years on brands, websites and product interfaces, mostly for companies who would rather brief one person than three.

Approach

Approach

Nobodyevercomplimentsacheckoutthatworked.Thatishowyouknowitworked.Thecraftgoesintothepartspeoplewalkstraightpast.

I sit between the business, the developers and the design. That seam is where most projects come apart, and where the interesting problems live.

  • 01

    Clarity first

Hierarchy, spacing and contrast do the explaining. Decoration comes after the thinking, never instead of it.

  • 02

    Function is the brief

A beautiful screen that slows someone down has failed. I start with the task, then make the task feel good.

  • 03

    Detail compounds

One easing curve. One aligned baseline. One sensible default. None of them matter alone. Together they are the difference between trust and doubt.

Selected work

Work I can show you.

Whole identities, the sites they live on, and the screens people sit in front of all day.

Electree, Energy Supplier. Energy, without the paperwork feeling.
01

Electree

Energy Supplier

Energy, without the paperwork feeling.

Brand identity and social templates, then a twenty-page site and the ordering system behind it. Customers pick electricity or gas and move through a multi-step form with live validation and pricing, so nobody has to call anyone to switch supplier.

02

Clariva

Software Consultancy

Their open roles, live in a minute.

Full brand identity, then the site design, then the site itself. Hiring was the pain point: every new opening used to mean a developer ticket. It now runs on a custom CMS where the team posts a role and it is live in a minute.

Infokrása, Aesthetic Clinic. A clinic that reads calm, not clinical.
03

Infokrása

Aesthetic Clinic

A clinic that reads calm, not clinical.

The whole site end to end: design, every word on it, and a CMS the team runs without me. Structured content types and page templates an editor cannot break, plus AI guidance so whatever they publish next still sounds like the same clinic.

Monevis

Trading Prop Firm

A whole company, drawn from a blank file.

Logo, palette, typography, then the marketing site and the component library the internal trading dashboard was built from. The system also had to survive real life: campaign banners, newsletters, brochures, print catalogues.

05

Centila

IT Experts

A serious brand, made legible again.

A facelift, not a teardown. The mark and the visual system got sharpened and written into a brand manual precise enough to build from, then a new website to prove it worked. Print carried the same rules onto paper.

NAY, Careers Portal. A careers page people finish reading.

NAY

Careers Portal

A careers page people finish reading.

The careers landing page and the job detail template for the largest electronics retailer in Slovakia, designed through Dexfinity. Every opening runs on the same layout, so a listing reads the same whether it is a shop assistant or a developer.

What I actually do

Out of the Excel era.

Plenty of good companies run on tools that work and that nobody likes. Moving them across is most of my job. Same business, same numbers, a face people trust.

Functional. Inherited. Nobody’s proud of it.

  • Ad-hoc layout
  • No visual system
  • Reads as effort

Services

One banner or the whole platform.

Most projects start in one of these and end up touching all four. One person the whole way, which is usually why they finish.

Brand Identity

Logo · System · Manual

Logo, palette, typography, and the manual precise enough that the next person can build from it without calling me.

  • Logo & marks
  • Colour & type system
  • Brand manual
  • Asset library

Web Design

Design · Build · Launch

Marketing sites and e-shops, designed and built by the same person, so nothing gets lost between the Figma file and the repository.

  • Design in Figma
  • Next.js build
  • Custom CMS
  • Launch & handover

Product UI

Dashboard · App · Design system

Dashboards, internal tools and the component libraries behind them. The screens people sit in front of for eight hours a day.

  • UX & flows
  • Interface design
  • Component library
  • Dev-ready specs

Marketing & Print

Campaign · Social · Print

Campaign assets, banners, newsletters, brochures, catalogues. The parts of a brand that meet real life and usually break.

  • Campaign systems
  • Social templates
  • Newsletters
  • Print & catalogues

Process

Fifteen minutes is usually enough to know.

Six steps, in this order, every time. The first one is a call that costs you a quarter of an hour and tells us both whether the rest is worth doing.

  1. 01

    Fifteen minutes

A call, not a deck. What you sell, who buys it, and what is currently in the way. If I am not the right fit you find that out here rather than three weeks in.

  2. 02

    Audit

The existing site, brand and competition, read properly. You get the findings whether or not we work together — it is the part that makes everything after it cheaper.

  3. 03

    Structure

Sitemap, page structure and the argument each page makes, agreed before a single pixel. Changing a wireframe costs an hour. Changing a built page costs a week.

  4. 04

    Design

In Figma, with your real content, reviewed as it happens rather than revealed at the end. No surprises, because you were in the file.

  5. 05

    Build

Next.js, on a staging URL you can open on your phone from day one. No handover document, because there is no handover.

  6. 06

    Keys

CMS, brand manual, repository access, and a walkthrough for whoever runs it next. Then I am available, not necessary.

About

Ten years of shipping, from every side of the table.

Freelance, in-house at a startup, inside a studio. I have been on every side of the handover, so I know exactly what breaks when it goes badly.

The work runs from a single banner to a whole platform, and these days I build most of it as well as design it. The method does not change: understand the business, respect the constraint, make the result look easy.
